What is a Smoke Purifier?
A Smoke purifier is an air filtration system that quickly eliminates tobacco and secondhand smoke using top-of-the-line Hepa filters. The ideal cigarette smoke removal air cleaner should also contain activated carbon to absorb odors and gases.
Look for Hepa filters capable of removing particles down to 0.1 microns and check the Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) for the room size you want to clean. Replace the filter per manufacturer’s recommendations to maintain peak performance.
Baking Soda
Baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) is a household staple with many uses. It is one of the best-known chemistry experiments for kids, used in the classic volcano project, and is often found stashed in the refrigerator to help keep things fresh. But baking soda has a lot more going for it.
It’s a leavening agent, creating gas bubbles that make baked goods rise. While it can be used on its own, it is most commonly mixed with acidic ingredients like cocoa powder or buttermilk in order to create carbon dioxide and activate the leavening process. This is why you’ll find baking soda in recipes such as quick breads, muffins, and cakes.
Sodium bicarbonate is also an excellent antacid for heartburn. It’s also been suggested that taking a small amount of baking soda before workouts can reduce muscle fatigue and increase performance. (This should only be done after a doctor approves it, and for very short-term use.)
To test whether your baking soda is still good, pour 3 teaspoons of white distilled vinegar into a bowl with 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda. If it bubbles rapidly, it is good; if there is no reaction, the baking soda is past its prime and should be replaced. Baking soda is also good for absorbing odors, such as the scent of smoke in your home or office.
Ozone Generators
Ozone generators are used by professional cleaning companies that specialize in odor removal to quickly and effectively treat areas of a home or commercial space that have been affected by smoke, mold, fungus or foul smells. These devices release ozone into the air and, at the same time, convert it back to Smoke purifier oxygen. The ozone attacks the physical cells that cause odors, destroying them and allowing the oxygen to revert back into normal, clean air.
Ozone generators that are designed for use in homes and commercial spaces often offer a control setting by which the amount of ozone that is released can be adjusted. However, the manufacturer’s instructions do not necessarily reflect the relationship between control settings and ozone concentrations. In fact, some ozone generators have been tested and found to produce much higher levels of ozone than indicated by the control settings on their labels.
The ozone molecules that are produced by these machines attach themselves to the oxygen in organic contaminants, such as mold, fungus or bacteria, and, at the same time, destroy their cells. This process oxidizes these contaminants and causes them to break down or decompose. It also breaks down volatile organic compounds and changes their chemical structure.
Because of the health risks associated with ozone exposure, it is important that these types of generators are only used in unoccupied spaces and should be run for no longer than 2-4 hours. After this time, the ozone must have a chance to revert to oxygen in order for occupied spaces to be safe to re-enter.
Vent Cleaning
Smoke can leave behind a variety of residues that stick to surfaces and make breathing difficult. These chemicals can also cling to children’s toys and be breathed in by young children, increasing the risk of health problems from thirdhand smoke. Cleaning supplies can be used to remove these lingering chemicals and help clean the air.
Air purifiers are often the go-to recommendation for eliminating harmful smoke particles and odors. They are designed to pull in and filter out particles and odors and then recirculate clean air back into the room. Air purifiers are a great tool for reducing harmful substances in the air, but it is important to remember that they can only do so much. They should be paired with other tools, such as vent cleaning and running an air conditioner, to ensure that the smoke is properly removed from the home.
The best air purifier for cigarette smoke is one that includes both a high-quality HEPA filter and activated carbon filtration. Activated carbon is a specialized material that is modified to make it incredibly porous. As a result, it can grab and hold onto a variety of Smoke purifier manufacturer harmful substances in the air, including odors and gases. IQAir’s HealthPro series, for example, utilizes this technology with small pellets of activated carbon that work to absorb VOCs such as formaldehyde and tobacco smoke odor.
Cleaning Supplies
A good smoke air purifier should use a filter type that has high iodine value or activated carbon to absorb second-hand smoke smell and remove it from the air. It should also use a pre-filter to trap larger debris and a HEPA filter to capture smaller particles like smoke.
You can also get great results from simple cleaning supplies, including basic dish soap, microfiber cloths and a bucket or container to store all your supplies in on the job site. Make sure you stock up on a few spray bottles for homemade products and all-purpose cleaners, as well as garbage bags and trash liners. Finally, you’ll need a cleaning management software, such as Jobber, to convert leads from Thumbtack into paying customers and keep track of all your jobs, invoices and payments.
