How to Change the DNS Servers for Huawei FTTH Modem
As bandwidth-hungry services rapidly develop, the demand for 200 Mbit/s or higher home broadband rises. Huawei FTTH solution enables operators to build a smart network with ultra-broadband access and future-oriented service support capability.
HG8247H5 is a GPON Wi-Fi 6 routing-type ONT that provides four GE ports, one POTS port, and one CATV port, supporting VoIP, data, and HD video services. It supports remote fault locating, device topology visualization, one-click Wi-Fi diagnosis, and automatic wireless optimization.
Features
Huawei FTTH solutions deliver gigabit Wi-Fi at home, enabling e-learning, video calls and remote office services. They also offer high bandwidth, low latency, and wide coverage for broadband networks. This enables customers to enjoy smooth Gigabit Internet access, even when multiple devices are in use.
The EG8247H5 is a GPON ONT (Optical huawei-ftth-modem Network Terminal) with 4 GE ports and 1 POTS port. It provides high performance forwarding capabilities and ensures users can experience Triple-play services including GPON, IPTV and VoIP telephony. It is an ideal terminal solution and future-oriented service support capability for FTTH deployment.
Huawei’s NGBN View NMS and device-cloud synergy help operators improve broadband service quality from three aspects: all-optical experience, zero frame freezing for HD video and VR services, and smart O&M. This enables Converge to deliver reliable and stable gigabit internet access for home and SOHO users. Moreover, Huawei’s QuickODN technology reduces optical cable usage by avoiding splicing and optimizing network construction. It also helps to realize the unified management of optical cables, simplifying the management and maintenance of the entire optical infrastructure. The Huawei HG series of ONTs includes bridge type, bridge + voice type, and gateway type, providing different terminal access solutions to meet the requirements of various FTTH scenarios.
Installation
Huawei FTTH solutions provide high bandwidth, low latency, and wide coverage. These technologies help operators build intelligent networks that meet their service development and network evolution needs. The Agile WAN solution also helps operators optimize their networks and reduce operational expenditures.
Huawei’s Gigabit Wi-Fi 6 master/slave FTTR units and all-optical components enable home users to enjoy stable gigabit wireless Internet. This is especially important for bandwidth-hungry services such as online education, video, and remote office. In addition, the FTTR solution features uneven optical cable routing tools that minimize the use of optical cables and improve construction efficiency.
Using a RJ-11 telephone cable, plug one end of the cable into the grey DSL port on the back of the modem and the other end into a telephone wall socket in your home. Wait for 15 minutes, until the WAN light on the front of the modem turns solid. If the light does not turn solid, try connecting the modem to other available telephone wall sockets in your home.
The EG8145X6-10 FTTH ONT combines GPON and Wi-Fi 6 technology to provide ultra-broadband access. It delivers excellent performance, wide coverage, and high forwarding speed for data, HD video, and VoIP services. It also provides customers with an ideal all-optical access solution and multi-core-indoor-fiber-optic-cable future-oriented service support capability. In addition, it has a compact design and low power consumption.
Configuration
When you want to change the DNS servers for your huawei-ftth-modem, the process is relatively simple. Open a web browser and navigate to the router’s IP address. In the left hand panel, click Basic. You will see an expanded menu with several options. Select DHCP and enter the OpenDNS addresses in the Primary and Secondary DNS Server fields, then click Submit. Please note that this may require you to write down the current DNS settings in case you need to return to them later.
The Huawei EG8247H5 intelligent FTTH ONT provides four GE ports, one POTS port, and one CATV port. It also supports 2.4G Wi-Fi. Its high forwarding performance ensures an excellent experience with data and HD video services. Its GPON Wi-Fi 6 device-cloud synergy improves broadband service quality from three aspects: all-optical experience, zero frame freezing in HD video and VR services, and smart O&M.
With Huawei NGBN View NMS, the network can be monitored in real-time. Its loop-line tests, call emulation, and PPPoE dial-up emulation can help to identify faults quickly. It also supports remote fault locating via the GPON ONU’s Ethernet ports, and can locate the source of the problem through the POTS interface.
