5 Macbook-Bags to Keep Your Computer Safe and Organized

Whether you’re commuting to work, school or college, the right bag can make your life easier and more enjoyable. These macbook-bags will protect your laptop from bumps, drops, and spills while also keeping your accessories organized.

This premium backpack uses waxed canvas to repel water and features leather accents. It has a slim padded laptop compartment that fits up to a 16-inch MacBook.

Timbuk 2 Project Backpack

The Project is a premium backpack that’s built to take the abuse of everyday use. The materials are high-quality and the finish is solid, which is why it comes with a lifetime warranty. The design is simple, but elegant and functional. It’s perfect for work commuters who need a laptop bag that can also carry their lunch and hydration bottles. It’s a little bit more expensive than other backpacks, but it’s worth the investment for anyone who wants a backpack that can double as a travel backpack.

Timbuk2 makes a wide range of modern backpacks and messenger bags designed to fit tech-focused users. Their budget-tier options are extremely affordable, while their premium bags offer more frills and customization for gear junkies. I’ve reviewed a number of their products in the past, and I’m impressed with how they’re designed to look and function.

With a capacity of 25 liters, the Prospect Mini packs enough room to cover most day-to-day needs. A zip pocket on the front stores quick-access items and a large main compartment is big enough to store clothes and accessories. There is a padded laptop sleeve and a separate sleeve for tablets or water bottles. There are also three elastic slip pockets and leather tabs for storing small accessories and cords.

One of the first things I noticed about the Prospect Mini was its clever design for a roll-top closure. Unlike other roll-top backpacks, which have a floppy lip that takes four to six rolls to close, the Prospect Mini uses a firm plastic card on the inside of the Velcro flap that provides a natural starting point for rolling. The rest of the bag rolls down smoothly in a single motion.

Tomtoc 360 Protective Laptop Shoulder Bag

The Tomtoc is a sleek and simple laptop case macbook-bags that offers a lot of protection for your computer. Its CornerArmor patent design at the bottom and 360-degree protective soft padding around inside protect your laptop from bumps in accident, just like a car airbag. Its front large zipper compartment is perfect for storage with a penholder and small card pocket, making it easier to organize your digital accessories. The case is also water-resistant and comes with easy-glide top-quality YKK zippers, which are also made to prevent any scratching of your laptop.

If you’re looking for a laptop bag with a rugged look, Herschel’s classic canvas backpack is a good choice. The tan and black color scheme is classic, while the rugged fabric can handle the bumps of everyday use. It’s a little heavy to carry over long distances, but it’s comfortable and convenient for short trips and commutes.

Not everyone wants to shell out for a more expensive backpack, but they still want the same great functionality of a high-end bag. The Canvaslife Marble is a standout among the best laptop bags, thanks to its sturdy construction and impressive protection. Its CornerArmors and thick edges protect your laptop from bumps and drops, while its water-resistant fabric sheds rain and snow. Its only downside is its slightly higher price compared to the competition.

A sleeve is not a bag, but it’s a simple and affordable way to protect your laptop while keeping macbook-bags your hands free. Its minimalist design is great for storing your MacBook Air in a work bag or backpack. Bellroy’s Sleeve is a great option, as it has a slim profile and uses magnetic clasps to avoid any scratches on your laptop. It’s also environmentally sustainable and water-resistant, so it’s a win-win.

Mosiso Neoprene Sleeve

A laptop can suffer a lot in the course of a day, from being dropped repeatedly to being jostled around in your bag. That’s why a good laptop sleeve is essential for preventing damage to your device. This leather option from Tolmount uses premium materials, including a soft, padded wool interior that provides some shock absorption. It’s slim and lightweight but it still provides great protection for your MacBook Air.

This case is one of the sturdiest on our list and is a good choice for anyone looking for something a bit more luxurious than your typical sleeve. Made from a textured faux-leather with a classic sheen, it comes in five colorways (we like the bronze option best) and features an interior slip pocket for accessories like chargers and secondary devices. It also has a velcro strap to keep your laptop in place and a padded compartment wall that adds extra protection.

For more storage, there’s this option from Case Logic. It has a large main compartment with room for a charger and other accessories, plus a front pocket for your notebooks or papers. The interior is padded and the bottom is vented to disperse heat during use. The only downside is that it’s a little pricey, but it’s worth it if you want a durable, sturdily constructed MacBook Air case with some stylish flair.

If you’re looking for a more affordable case that can protect your MacBook, look no further than this neoprene option from Mosiso. It’s slim and compact but it can still easily fit into a larger backpack, briefcase or messenger bag and offers plenty of padding to protect your device from bumps and scratches. It’s also available in a range of colorways, though the faux-leather version isn’t suitable for vegan shoppers.

v2 Everyday Messenger

One of the most well-known laptop bag-and-photography bag combinations on the market, Peak Design’s Everyday Messenger has been reworked for a V2 model. As with the original, it’s a smart-looking bag with an excellent mix of camera and computer gear storage options. Peak Design took the “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” approach with this update and instead focused on refinements. First, the bag is 24% lighter than before. Second, the main compartment’s clever semi-rigid origami-inspired dividers now have more padding, so cameras and lenses feel more cosseted and less likely to clonk into each other. Lastly, the dividers can now be folded and oriented in multiple ways to suit different kit configurations.

As with the previous bag, the v2’s zippered main compartment is securely closed by closing the lid, so nothing big will fall out of it. However, what it does lose is the dedicated tripod sleeve built into the top flap. In its place is a slot that accepts Peak Design’s cordHook tripod connectors, which are quick to secure and easy to use.

The v2 also maintains the same weatherproof synthetic/leather material of its predecessor and adds extra padding to the bottom, so you won’t get wet if you set the bag down in dew-drenched grass or on a rainy sidewalk. The top-design handle is another nice touch, which lets you carry the bag like a briefcase or use it around your shoulders when bike commuting or working from home. The padded laptop sleeve fits a 13-inch laptop, and there are additional pockets for a tablet, a water bottle, a camera, and accessories. It also has a luggage pass-through sleeve for mounting it on the trolley-handle of your wheeled luggage.

Aer City Pack Pro

The Aer City Pack Pro is the latest backpack from a brand that has carved out a niche for itself with their Active, Travel, and Work bags. With this bag, they’ve moved into the everyday carry space with a small, sleek, and well-thought-out pack that can hold your everyday essentials without overdoing it. It’s tough, using Aer’s signature coated center zip and 1680D ballistic Cordura(r) fabric, but it doesn’t feel tactical or bulky.

It has Aer’s modern aesthetic and great build quality, plus a host of smart pockets for organizing your daily essentials and solid laptop protection. It doesn’t check off every feature in my dream backpack (like a dedicated umbrella pocket), but it comes close. Check it out here.
